ROLE DESCRIPTION
Rosnium is looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer specialising in Backend and DevOps, who takes ownership, brings ideas to the table, pushes back when something doesn’t make sense, and genuinely wants to shape the product (not just build what they’re told). You’ll lead backend development and cloud operations in a lean, high-trust engineering team. Working directly with the founders, you’ll build the services, integrations and infrastructure that help us ship quickly, operate reliably and scale into a global market.
What You will Own
Scale the Foundations: Lead the architecture and implementation of core backend services, integration patterns and cloud infrastructure, building scalable foundations from the ground up.
Cloud & Reliability: Own AWS/Azure environments and DevOps foundations, ensuring client applications remain secure, observable and reliable as usage grows.
Product Roadmap: Partner with the founders to extract insights from client feedback and translate them into technical priorities and working software.
Team Building: Help set our engineering culture, mentor those around you and play a key role in assembling a world-class technical team.
What You will Do
Backend Development: Build, integrate, debug and maintain robust Python services, APIs and PostgreSQL-backed applications.
Automated Delivery: Develop CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation and containerised environments that make deployment repeatable and development more efficient.
Operational Improvement: Monitor applications and infrastructure, investigate incidents and eliminate recurring issues through permanent fixes or automated remediation.
Code That Lasts: Develop and review secure, high-quality production code, taking responsibility for its correctness and future maintainability regardless of whether it is written by you, another engineer or generated with AI.
Testing & Quality: Write and maintain unit tests, add integration tests where needed and embed automated checks into the delivery pipeline.
Technical Leadership: Lead design reviews and architecture discussions, align integration and access-control requirements with relevant stakeholders, and contribute ideas, share knowledge, support and mentor the team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
5+ years in software engineering, with substantial hands-on backend development and production ownership.
Strong Python skills and experience building production-ready services with Django or Flask.
Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimisation and data integrity.
Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation and Bash scripting.
Experience with Docker or Podman, monitoring, logging, alerting and production troubleshooting.
Experience writing unit and integration tests, reviewing code and applying secure development practices.
Ability to explain technical trade-offs, lead design discussions and take features or services from inception through production.
Desirable Qualifications
JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience, with the ability to contribute across the stack when needed.
Experience integrating and operating AI capabilities within commercial applications.
Familiarity with Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible, Loki, Grafana, Mimir or Prometheus.
Experience with authentication, authorisation and Identity and Access Management integrations.
Experience scaling commercial software, mentoring engineers or supporting technical hiring.
